Affected by a curious mind and the death of a close friend, Sebastian experienced a moment in his life where he asked himself a simple question; “Am I happy?.” The answer was no and so he decided to pen down a list of 100 things that he’d always wanted to achieve. Following his heart and armed with nothing but a list, Sebastian’s incredible story has grown from an entertaining tale of adventure into a global philanthropic movement that engages a growing tribe of hundreds of thousands to not just set meaningful goals, but also pull the trigger and achieve them – all while helping others do the same.

Understanding Experience in the Now of Work

Putting people at the center of workforce experience and technology strategies should be a strategic priority for every enterprise and the only imperative of HR in 2021. Whole person wellbeing addresses physical health, psychological safety, emotional and mental wellness, financial health and security, truly the entire person. In that way, our notion of Workforce Experience has changed, too. There is the kind of Employee Experience that is based on user interfaces, and there are Employee Experiences based on how the whole person feels about being employed by their employer. The true understanding of what is meant by Employee Experience will be key throughout 2021.

New approaches to understanding and designing workforce experience in the Now of Work requires a new respect and appreciation for the role of Human Resources. HR is not an administrative function, nor is it a cost center. Human Resources produces business velocity in the form of people, and their care and feeding is the best investment of resources you can make.

Jason Averbook

Jason Averbook is a global keynote speaker, industry analyst, thought leader and consultant in the area of human resources and workforce experience. He is the Co-founder and CEO of Leapgen, a digital transformation company shaping the Now of Work. Author of The Ultimate Guide to a Digital Workforce Experience ~ Leap for a Purpose, Jason seeks to broaden executive mindset to rethink how to better design and deliver employee services that exceed the expectations of the workforce and the needs of the business.

Prior to founding Leapgen, Jason served as the CEO of The Marcus Buckingham Company (TMBC). In 2005, he co-founded Knowledge Infusion, LLC, and served as its CEO until 2012, when the company was sold to Appirio. Earlier in his career, he served as the Chief Business Innovation Officer at Appirio Inc., where he led the HCM business. He has also held senior leadership roles at PeopleSoft and Ceridian Corporation. Jason has more than 20 years of experience in the HR and technology industries and has collaborated with industry-leading companies in transforming their HR organizations into strategic partners.

Jess Von Bank

Jess Von Bank is an 18-year industry veteran and impassioned evangelist of the modern employee experience. As both a former recruiting practitioner and an expert in bringing HCM vendor solutions to market, Jess looks to broaden executive mindset to better design and deliver a workforce experience that exceeds the expectations of talent and the needs of the business.

Jess is the Head of Marketing for Leapgen, a digital transformation company shaping the Now of Work. She co-hosts the Now of Work podcast and runs the Now of Work global community along with Jason Averbook. Jess is an active community emcee and ambassador for women’s and girls’ organizations in Minneapolis, where she raises her 3 daughters.
